King Edward Debating Society (KEDS) cordially invites all students to participate in the prestigious 27th Intra-KEMU Declamations on campus! ### Competition Structure & Categories The competition consists of a single round of bilingual declamations across six categories: - English Serious - English Humorous - Urdu Serious - Urdu Humorous - Punjabi Serious - Punjabi Humorous ### Team & Pairing Regulations - Cross-Genre Pairing: Any Urdu Serious speaker can pair with an English Humorous speaker, and any English Serious speaker can pair with an Urdu Humorous speaker. - Senior-Junior Mentorship Rule: Experienced declamation speakers from 3rd year, 4th year, or experienced 2nd year students MUST pair with a beginner declamation speaker from 1st or 2nd year. - Individual Participation: Speakers unable to form a team are eligible to register and compete individually in their respective categories. ### Awards & Recognition - Urdu & English Categories: First, Second, and Third prizes awarded in each category. - Punjabi Category: Best Speaker Award. - Team Trophy: Prestigious Best Team Trophy for the top-performing paired team. ### Speech Rules & Regulations - Time Limits: Speeches must be 4–6 minutes in length (First bell at 4 min, Second bell at 6 min). Time violations result in scoring penalties. - No Paper Reading: Paper reading or reliance on written scripts during delivery is strictly prohibited. - Judging Criteria: Evaluation is based on Content Quality, Language Proficiency, Delivery & Oratory, and Audience Response. - Code of Conduct: Strict prohibition against objectionable, vulgar, or indecent remarks targeting any religion, caste, creed, political party, or person. - Adjudication Finality: Judges' decisions are final and binding. Disrespect towards adjudicators will result in immediate disqualification. KEDS reserves the right to enforce disciplinary measures if necessary.
